We are pleased that you are interested in joining the Monmouth Boat Club (MBC). MBC was established in 1879 for the greater enjoyment of the Navesink River through a common interest in boating. It is an informal and friendly organization. The members are drawn together by a love of sailing, rowing, and power boating plus our many social activities at our historic clubhouse on the Navesink River.
You may apply to join MBC as either a Regular/Family, Young Adult or Junior member.
A Family membership may also include sons or daughters who have not reached the age of 23. MBC extends privileges to Regular members that include full 24-hour access to club facilities, the opportunity to participate in club events, and full voting rights at our monthly General Membership meetings.
MBC is maintained entirely by its members. There is no full time staff, so membership includes both privileges and responsibilities. Responsibilities include ongoing participation in various work parties and events throughout the season and, if interested, as club supervisors and officers.
To take the next step towards becoming a member, complete the application below. You will also need two sponsors, who must be current club members. If you do not have two sponsors the Membership Chair will help find these for you.
Applications must be accompanied by a check for the initiation fees and 2020 dues that are based on your Membership type:
Regular Member/Family Membership (One-time Initiation Fee $1,300, 2020 Dues ($824/year) = $2,124 first year total
If under 35 years of age, 50% One-time Initiation Fee $650 instead of $1,300 = $1,474 first year total
If under 28 years of age, 25% One-time Initiation Fee $325 instead of $1,300 and reduced annual dues of $494 = $819 first year total
Under 24 years of age? Junior Memberships available as well! No Initiation Fee and only $100 annual dues
Upon receipt of your completed application we will contact you to arrange for an interview with representatives of our Board of Governors. Your application will then be read into the minutes at the next General Meeting. Finally, your application will be voted on at a subsequent meeting of the General Membership where your Sponsors speak on your behalf. General meetings are held on the first Monday of the Month, March through December. So typically, the process takes several months to complete.
