Past Commodore Patrick F. Corr and family is inviting the Monmouth Boat Club community to the Celebration of Life for his father, Past Commodore Patrick E. Corr.  The celebration will take place at MBC on Saturday, October 23rd, at 12:00 noon.

Patrick E. Corr, 93, of Middletown, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 3, 2021 at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor in Red Bank. “Pat” was born in Cincinnati, OH and later moved with his family to Chicago, IL. Mr. Corr served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1945 to 1947, and after receiving an Honorable Discharge, he studied at Loyola University in Chicago. He later moved with his family to Plainfield, NJ. It was there that he met his future wife, Ada Mae Meister.

After marrying in 1953, he and Ada Mae moved to Middletown, NJ, where he resided for the past 70 years. Pat’s greatest joys were his family and his community. He was a parishioner of both St. Mary’s and St. Catherine’s Catholic Churches in Middletown and served as a Lector at both. He also volunteered his time to call bingo at both parishes.

He learned how to sail as a boy in Chicago, and grew into an avid sailor, owning and racing a wide variety of boats, beginning with a Comet and leading to a long succession of Lightnings. He was a longtime member of Monmouth Boat Club in Red Bank, NJ, where he served in a number of leadership roles, including serving as commodore in 1971 and 1972. He introduced a large number of people to sailing, including all of his children, and served in a number of local and national roles in the International Lightning Class Association over the years.

He also had a love for gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ada Mae Corr (née Meister) in 2015, his parents William and Elodie (Delbecq) Corr, brothers Francis, William, and Thomas, and his Sister Ann Corr, IHM. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Sharon Huggins and Larry of Pottstown, PA; Patrick F. Corr and Mary of Leonardo, NJ; Susan Decker and Jeff of Freehold, NJ; Kevin Corr and Kristin of Irving, TX; as well as his eleven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Catherine’s Church or to the Monmouth Boat Club, PO Box 777, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
