The Shrewsbury Power Squadron is offering the Marine Engine Maintenance Class at Monmouth Boat Club, Starting on Wed July 19th starting at 1900 (7:00 PM). The class will run for 7 sessions, and each session will last about two hours. Starting with basic engine principals, the course will progress to cover fuel and ignition systems, cooling systems, drive systems, repair, and general maintenance. The practical aspects of taking this class is that the course covers what to look for when there is a problem and how to complete repairs.  There will be a section on diesel engines; the instructor teaching the diesel section of the class has over forty years of experience on the water, has completed the Great Loop Cruise and has attended the Mack Boring Diesel Engine School. The other instructors have a minimum of 30 years each of boating and cruising experience. All instructors are willing to share their experience and answer your questions. Given that we are delivering this class at Monmouth Boat Club, we will be sure to cover the type of engine systems on our types of boats.  We will be using power point slides and a book to teach the class, and we will have hands-on items to facilitate a positive learning experience.
If you do extensive cruising or sail locally, it’s always a good idea to know what can go wrong and how to repair or prevent it. The US Power Squadron Classes are designed and reviewed by experienced boaters to offer education to those who want it, and the classes are taught by experienced and proficient boaters.

All are encouraged to attend.  Cost for MBC members is $65 and members of other clubs is $85 (this includes the manual).

Members are encouraged to bring questions.

If you have reservations feel free to attend the first session without obligation. Please sign up in advance with Richard Mohrbutter, the instructor.

You must register by July 10th.

Thank You, and Happy Boating
