Frostbiting finally lived up to it’s name yesterday as 13 Laser sailors braved the snowy conditions at MBC. These intrepids were rewarded with excellent sailing, a steady 5-10 kts out of the NE, and close tactical racing. John Surgey figured out the currents by race 3 and took a win. Marc Gordon also picked up the pace until later in the day as his boat started sinking — sailing tip, gallons of water in the hull isn’t a go-fast. Also, using a shark bitten daggerboard like Gary did is also not recommended for peak upwind performance. Chris Stone played it conservatively in the 5th race after realizing his dry suit’s back zipper had been open all day. Matt and Thom Lee also picked up wins and kept it tight, but Larry took the light-air day with 3 bullets. Heat, football, beverages and stories were enjoyed by all in the MBC clubhouse afterwards. Thanks to the N10 sailors who helped out with RC duties today and for sharing the race course.
