If you live in the area and are interested in sailing an Albacore, reach out to Fleet Captain Gene Spillane. Albacore Fleet 23 is one of the longest standing fleets at MBC. It is also one of the founding Albacore Fleets in the country and several fleet members compete internationally.
While the Albacore is an easy boat to learn to sail, it also provides a challenge regarding tuning and tactical skills. It is a great first boat as well as a very competitive racer for more advanced sailors. it is often sailed by husband/wife and parent/child combinations. Some of the all-women teams are the most competitive in the class.
A well-attended series of National and International championships serves to satisfy the competitive urges for hard-core racers. The Albacore is currently raced in the US, Canada, and England, and a World or International Championships is held every two years.
