Help us remember Andrew Bart Simpson, who was lost in 2013 in the capsize of the Artemis America’s Cup boat.  Bart’s Bash is a global sailing race and fundraising event at your club on Sunday 21 September 2014.  Bart’s Bash will be joining together thousands of worldwide sailors in a race to set a new Guinness World Record, raise money for charity, inspire the next generation and remember Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, Gold & Silver Olympic medalist and America’s Cup sailor.
·
Here is how you can participate at Monmouth Boat Club:
The plan is to sail our usual one-design races on September 21, 2014.  The first race of the day will count as the Bart’s Bash race.  There will be a single start for all classes and times will be collected to send to the Bart’s Bash organizers for overall scoring.  In subsequent races, each fleet will start separately.
·
Skippers:  Register online to be included in this great event.  We need 25 boats to compete in order to be included in the Guinness World Record largest sailboat race ever.  We need any number of boats to compete in order to be scored with the rest of the racers.
Crews:  Register too!
Everyone else:  If you don’t plan to sail, register anyway and your boat will be scored (DNS) with the rest of us.

·
Note:  Supplementary Sailing Instructions are the MBC Sailing Instructions found on the MBC Website.
A skippers meeting is planned at 12:15 to review the format for the day.
·
After racing there will be an impromptu party.  All are welcome.  Entry to the party is a 6pk of beer/soda or similar offering and a bag of snacks.  Let’s toast Andrew Bart Simpson, support the worldwide sailing community, and have some fun.
·
We will also be having a 50/50 to donate to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
